«…nukë dotë kuxonj të flas për ndonjë punë nga ato që Krishti s’ka punuarë me anë t’ime, për të prurë ndë të dëgjuarë kombetë, me fjalë e me punë, me fuqi shënjash e çudirash, me fuqi të Frymësë Perëndisë; kaqë sa, që nga Jerusalimi e përqark gjer ndë Illyri, e kam mbushurë me Ungjillin e Krishtit. Edhe kështu nxitonjam të lëçis Ungjillinë, jo atje ku u zu n’gojë emëri i Krishtit, që të mos ndërtonj mbi themel të huaj; sikundrë është shkruarë: “Ndër ata që s’është dhënë zë për atë, dotë shohënë; edhe ata që s’patnë dëgjuarë, dotë kupëtonjënë.”

«…non oserò parlare di alcuna cosa che Cristo non abbia operato per mezzo mio, per condurre le nazioni all’ubbidienza, con parole e con opere, con la potenza di segni e di prodigi, con la potenza dello Spirito di Dio; tanto che, da Gerusalemme e tutt’intorno fino all’Illiria, ho annunziato pienamente il Vangelo di Cristo. E così mi sono adoperato ad annunziare il Vangelo non là dove era già stato pronunciato il nome di Cristo, per non costruire su un fondamento altrui; come sta scritto: “Coloro ai quali non era stato annunziato nulla di lui vedranno, e quelli che non ne avevano udito parlare comprenderanno.”

“…For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed, through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ. Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man’s foundation: but as it is written, To whom he was not spoken of, they shall see: and they that have not heard shall understand.
For which cause also I have been much hindered from coming to you. But now having no more place in these parts, and…”
